Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNO): The bustling streets leading to the office of Returning Officer 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency reverberated with fervor and political enthusiasm as the candidates from various political parties filed their nomination papers for the parliamentary elections in the Srinagar constituency on Wednesday. The event marked spirited displays, witnessing car rallies, roadshows, and folk performances, transforming the area near returning officer in Srinagar into a vibrant political arena. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), as the nomination filing process unfolded, supporters flooded towards the office of Returning Officer Srinagar in a show of strength for their respective candidates. Caravans of vehicles, adorned with the party insignias and banners, snaked through the roads, while enthusiastic supporters, including a significant contingent of women, added to the spectacle. Leading the charge was Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who arrived amidst a massive rally from the party headquarters in Srinagar to the office of the returning officer in Srinagar. The gathering, characterized by a sea of supporters chanting slogans and waving flags, underscored the formidable support base that Parra commands. Joining the fray was Mohammad Ashraf Mir, representing the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, who made his presence felt alongside a legion of supporters and party workers. The collective energy of the supporters, manifested in dances to the tunes of party anthems and the rhythmic beats of traditional drums ('Dhol'), lent an air of festivity to the occasion filing of nomination. The nomination filing event also witnessed sporadic traffic congestion and diversions at various junctures across Srinagar, as the influx of supporters and vehicles converged on key points in the city, causing inconvenience to the people commuting in and around the area. Many supporters and workers of the political party outside the office of returning officer told KNO that they have come to support their candidates and that they were eager to cast their votes for a change. “What have previous MPs done or spoken about Kashmir, this is the high time for a change and we believe the young leadership will do it for us in the Parliament”, said an enthusiastic political party worker from south Kashmir Among the notable candidates who filed their nomination papers, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra of the PDP and Mohammad Ashraf Mir of the J&K Apni Party stood out, each rallying substantial support from their respective party faithful—(KNO)
